Put JOY Back Into Christmas

Five Tips to Spruce up Your Holidays with J O Y

blogEntryTopper
Why is it, during this season, that when we hear the familiar strains of Joy to the World and Sleigh Bells Ringing, people seem so rushed? So frantic to get it all done?

The whole world seems to be feeling a time crunch, especially during the holiday season.

But here’s the thing. How can you enJOY the moment when you’re looking at a deadline, a date on the calendar, that day and time when supposedly you have finally made it to the finish line? What happened to ‘enjoy the journey?

No wonder so many feel grumpy and short tempered at this time of year. Living this way is not any fun! Although I have to admit, when I see what you have on that list, it is quite an accomplishment. You’ve finished the list, even checked it twice, but when it’s all over I hear your sigh of relief. Is that all there is to this season of JOY?

As an antidote to the holiday rush, an appeal to reason, please slow down and truly enJOY the holiday season.

Here are my five tips to spruce up your busy holiday season.
After all, JOY is very good for the world!

Stop and Breathe

Take a few moments each day to truly locate your self. For goodness sake, where are you? When was the last time you actually noticed an unmistakable, undeniable, authentic connection with yourself?

Immerse Yourself in a Space of Silence Several Times a Day

Quiet is an antidote to the chaos of a busy life. Immerse yourself in a warm bath or in your meditation room to accomplish this. Turn off the noise.

Listen, Listen for as Long as it Takes

Listen until you can actually hear your own inner voice. Your higher self wants to communicate with you. Warning: this may take quite a while.

Make a List (or Several Lists)

Get your To Do tasks down on paper so you won’t have to stress your tired mind for the answers. Then, be willing to loosely hold on to your list(s). It’s not life or death if you don’t get it all done.

Take Care of Your Physical Self

Get plenty of sleep. Drink lots of water. Get outdoors for a brisk walk or two each day. And please don’t overly indulge in the ‘sweet life’ of carbohydrates, sugar and other highs.

These five easy tips will help you feel better. You’ll be happy and so in touch with the elixir of life that it won’t much matter whether you finish everything on your To Do list or not!

Here’s to more J O Y this holiday season!

Blessings to you today and always,
