So many of us remain in the physical, mental, and emotional stimulus of fear. The biological flight distance for a horse is about a quarter of a mile, but for humans the fight and flight response sometimes never ends.
The nervous system runs first and then turns around to analyze what frightened it! Then, in shock we suddenly realize, I’m in big trouble! I’m in flight and fight and that ‘thing’ is still chasing me! I’m afraid! I’m going to die! I need help! I need a leader, I need someone to please help!
Unfortunately, as long as you stay in victim mode, your neurological system remains in fear and flight. While in this state, no one can approach you, or come close enough to help you. While in fear response, trust is compromised.
However, when you have a trusted friend or coach who knows how to whisper to the body, then the nervous system loses a lot of its anxiety, there is more clarity, and the immune system can do its job more efficiently.
